How we work: clear, direct, no surprises

You work directly with the people doing the work, you see progress early and often, and you know where you stand before we start. Below, we explain how an engagement runs, how our pricing models work and what you can expect from us.

Principles

What you can hold us to

Six principles that apply to every engagement, whether it’s advice, software, a website or hosting.

  • Direct contact. You talk directly to the people doing the work. No account managers in between, no messages lost along the way.
  • Honest advice. You get advice, not a sales pitch. If something won’t work, or you don’t need it, we’ll simply tell you.
  • Open about progress. Regular check-ins and early demos show you where things stand at every point, so there are no surprises at the end.
  • Quality from the start. We test and review as we go, not just at the end. Fixing an issue early costs a fraction of fixing it later.
  • No lock-in. We document clearly and train your team. Once you’ve paid in full, the custom work is yours, so you can carry on independently.
  • In it for the long haul. We think beyond this project. When you’re ready for the next step, we already know your systems inside out. No hard sell.

Step by step

Working together in four clear steps

Every engagement follows the same path. For each step, you’ll see what happens, what you get from us and what we need from you.

  1. Introduction

You tell us what you’re up against and what you want to achieve. We listen, ask questions and tell you honestly whether and how we can help.

    What you get

    • An honest first look at your challenge
    • A straight answer on whether we’re the right fit
    • Clarity on the next step

    What we need from you

    • A picture of your situation and goals
    • Your constraints, such as timing, budget or existing systems
Get in touch for an introduction
  2. Analysis & proposal

We map out your situation properly: we talk to the people doing the work, look at your systems and data, and find out where the real bottlenecks are. Then we turn that into a concrete proposal. The quote is valid for 30 days, and we start once you’ve accepted it in writing.

    What you get

    • A clear quote with scope, approach, timeline and price
    • Honest recommendations on what to prioritise
    • For software projects: a roadmap with a realistic timeline

    What we need from you

    • Time with the people who know the work, for interviews or a workshop
    • Insight into your current systems, data and workflows
  3. Delivery

We get to work, and you stay in direct contact with the people doing it. Regular check-ins and demos show you early what’s been built. If your priorities shift, we adapt quickly.

    What you get

    • Direct contact with the team, no go-betweens
    • Regular check-ins and early demos
    • Work that’s tested and reviewed before we move on

    What we need from you

    • Your feedback on the demos, so we stay on course
    • A heads-up as soon as your priorities change
  4. Handover & aftercare

Before anything goes live, we test it thoroughly. Then we hand everything over properly, with documentation that actually makes sense and training for your team. After launch, we stay available for the questions that come up.

    What you get

    • Clear documentation and training for your team
    • Support after launch
    • Ownership of all custom work once you’ve paid in full

    What we need from you

    • Time from your team for training and handover
    • Your questions and feedback once you’re using it

Pricing models

Three ways to work together

Every engagement is different, so together we choose the model that fits. You won’t find amounts here: they’re in your quote, in black and white, as soon as we know what you need.

  • Fixed price

You know up front what you’ll get and what it will cost.

    Best for
Projects with a clear goal, such as custom software, a website or an online shop.
    How it works
After a discovery phase, we set out the scope, timeline and price in a quote.
    How billing works
You pay the price in the quote. For larger projects, this can be in instalments.
  • Time-based

Flexible support: you pay for the time we spend.

    Best for
IT consultancy and roles where we work as part of your team, such as programme manager or data analyst.
    How it works
We agree an hourly or daily rate up front. That way, we can adjust course if the work changes along the way.
    How billing works
We invoice the hours or days spent, at the agreed rate.
  • Monthly fee

Ongoing care for your systems, at a monthly rate.

    Best for
Managed hosting and ongoing support after delivery.
    How it works
A service agreement sets out what we do for you and which resources you get. For managed hosting, that includes an SLA with 99.5% uptime per month.
    How billing works
You pay a monthly fee, as set out in your service agreement. If you need more resources, the fee may be adjusted accordingly.

What always applies

Whichever model you choose, these terms apply to every engagement. You’ll find the details in our terms of service.

Read the terms of service
  • Quotes are valid for 30 days

Unless the quote says otherwise. That gives you time to decide without pressure.
  • Payment within 30 days

Invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date, unless we agree otherwise.
  • Instalments for larger projects

For larger projects, we can invoice in instalments, so the costs don’t all come at once.
  • If the scope changes

If the scope changes after you’ve accepted the quote, this may affect the timeline and costs.
  • The custom work is yours

Once you’ve paid in full, you own all code and deliverables we create specifically for your project.
  • 30 days’ notice

Either party can end the engagement in writing. You pay for the work done up to the end date and receive everything that’s finished by then.

FAQ

Questions about working together and pricing

Short, honest answers about quotes, payment and working together.

What does it cost to work with you?

That depends on the type of engagement. We use three pricing models:
Fixed price for projects: after the analysis, you receive a quote with the scope, timeline and price.
Time-based for consultancy and embedded roles: by the hour or by the day.
Monthly fee for managed hosting and ongoing support: set out in a service agreement.
We don’t list amounts on our website: every engagement is different. Read more about how we work and our pricing models.

What’s in a quote, and how long is it valid?

A quote sets out the scope, approach, timeline and price, so you know exactly where you stand. It’s valid for 30 days unless it states otherwise. The project starts once you accept the quote in writing or sign a project agreement.

When do I pay?

Invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date, unless we agree otherwise. For larger projects, we can invoice in instalments, so you don’t pay everything in one go.

What if my requirements change during the project?

That happens, and we adapt. If the agreed scope changes, that may affect the timeline and the costs. We talk openly with you about what a change means, so there are no surprises afterwards.

Can I end an engagement early?

Yes. Either of us can end a project with 30 days’ written notice. You pay for the work completed up to the termination date, and you receive everything that’s finished by then.
